About Us

History of the Foundation

The Fiji Indigenous Peoples Foundation was founded in 2015 to address the growing needs of indigenous Fijians in America. Over the years, FIPF has worked to preserve Fijian culture, provide legal aid to asylum seekers, and advocate for indigenous rights.

Vision Statement:

Empowering a vibrant Fiji Indigenous community in America, rooted in our cultural heritage and traditions, embracing our unique identity, and thriving in our diverse society.”

Mission Statement:

“To nurture and preserve our Indigenous culture, traditions, and values, while fostering a culture-oriented generation that embraces our rich heritage and contributes positively to our community and society at large. We will achieve this through:

Preserving and promoting our language, customs, and traditions

Supporting the well-being and aspirations of our people, especially asylum seekers, and youths

Advocating for Indigenous Rights and Social Justice

Celebrating our culture through media, arts, and education

Providing spiritual guidance and counseling

Fostering a sense of community and belonging among our diaspora

By fulfilling our mission, we envision a future where our Fiji Indigenous community in America is strong, resilient, and proud of our cultural identity while contributing to the rich tapestry of America’s diversity.
